Border Wall

Everything in the universe has a border wall.

The sun and the planets in our solar system have their own border wall called the atmosphere. Earth’s atmosphere protects life on earth by creating pressure allowing for liquid water to exist on the surface of the earth, absorbs ultraviolet radiations which are harmful to the living organism when they are exposed directly, warming the surface through heat retention, and reducing temperature extremes.

Every country has a border wall to defend from foreign intrusions, impose duties on transported goods, and control of immigration and emigration.

Like the atmosphere is to Earth, skin is to body, acting as a barrier that protects the body from harmful things such as germs, toxic substances, etc. Additionally, it helps to regulate body temperature.

The upper and lower eyelids that can cover the eyes act as a border wall from foreign objects, wind, dust, insects and bright light.

With a gazillion things happening around us every moment, it is very easy to get distracted and spend our time with no purpose. The brain prefers fun and familiar stuff over needed work and unfamiliar challenges to succeed. It is very easy to get sucked into quicksands of distractions laid around us.

A strong border wall is a need to protect yourself
from the invasions of distractions.

The border wall is crucial to have, but a clear definition of what it is going to protect is equally or even more important as well.

What is it protecting? It is your value system.

Your personal value system can be defined by answering some of the questions below:

  • What are the things I really want?
  • Why do I want it?
  • How much attention should I be giving to each item?
  • Where should I be spending my time?
  • What do I need to achieve in a week/month/quarter/year? and so on…

Add your own questions to clearly define your value system.

Check Post: Every time you encounter an activity, determine if it is a foreign invasion (distractions) or a needed item for you to take. Do not accept anything which will affect your value system or is not useful for your life.

If it is a needed item, determine whether it has to be done now or if it can wait. If it can wait, add it to your to-do list for later evaluation.

To avoid the drain of time and energy, you need to ensure you build a strong enforcement officer, the Mind, to protect your own value system. Also, define your past and current distractions. “Time Machine” can help in revealing the distractions so that you can devise a plan to mitigate it.

To-do list, Check Post, and strong Mind together will form a personal border wall to protect your value system.

Watch out for the time stealers.

How efficiently you can achieve what you desire is determined by your fortified border wall.
